HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE DRAFT LAKE WYANGAN FORESHORE MASTER PLAN

The draft Lake Wyangan Foreshore Master Plan is currently on public exhibition, with feedback sought on preferred options.
At the Council Meeting on 11 July 2023 Council adopted the Minutes of the Lake Wyangan & Catchment Management Committee Meeting, which included a recommendation to put the Master Plan out for public consultation.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran is urging residents to provide input.
“I encourage everyone to take a look at what has been identified as priorities in the first stage and let us know what you think,” Councillor Curran said.
“We have heard loud and clear the desire to return the Lake to its glory days, we know that seeing improvements to Lake Wyangan is something the community feel passionate about, that’s why we’d love to hear what everyone thinks.”
The draft plan can be viewed at: griffith.nsw.gov.au/on-exhibition, with comments or submissions received up to 4pm, Friday 11 August 2023.
It is proposed that the Lake Wyangan Recreational Area upgrade be staged to meet funding availability.
Lake Wyangan & Catchment Management Committee members have identified eight priorities in Stage 1 to meet Council’s current budget allocation of just over $2M These include:
1. Sediment Retention North-western Drain
2. Playground
3. Earthworks and landscaping
4. Irrigation Stage 1, including pump
5. Water supply
6. Toilet block and sewer
7. Picnic furniture
8. Signage and entrance
Future stages would include the additional eight items listed below (not currently budgeted for):
1. Irrigation Stage 2
2. Road gravel
3. Parking areas gravel
4. Sealed road
5. Irrigation Stage 3
6. Boat ramp
7. Lake Wyangan shared pathway
8. Electricity upgrade
