Par Avion Marks Three-Month Anniversary of Griffith-Melbourne Service

Tuesday June 24, 2014

Par Avion Airlines is pleased to announce the three-month anniversary of its Griffith-to-Melbourne (Essendon) service, which took off on March 17 this year.

Shannon Wells, Managing Director of Par Avion and Airlines Tasmania, said the service has been growing slowly and steadily in the short time since it took off.

“As we pass the three-month mark we are happy to say we are encouraged by the growing numbers of passengers on our flights as it appears our brand and presence is becoming more well known in Griffith and surrounding areas,” Mr Wells said.

“We continually assess our operations to see if flight frequency and times are meeting the travel needs of local residents and based on that information, we will retain the current schedule of morning and afternoon flights from Griffith to Essendon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We are considering adding the option of a Sunday evening flight for the leisure travel market, where alternative airfares may be appropriate, but we have not reached a decision as yet,” he added.

Griffith City Mayor John Dal Broi congratulated Par Avion on its progress over the past three months and encouraged residents to continue supporting the airline.

“The Griffith-to-Melbourne air service is an important route that Par Avion was able to offer our city and we hope local residents will help the airline grow and succeed by considering flying instead of driving for their next trip to Melbourne,” Councilor Dal Broi said.

“We want to reach March 2015 and look back on a very successful 12 months with Par Avion and look forward to clear skies and many flights in the future,” Cr Dal Broi added.

Par Avion began operating the Griffith-Essendon service on March 17 following CASA’s inspection and formal approval. Par Avion operates the flights with its Cessna Titan, 10-seat twin engine aircraft.

“Par Avion appreciates the support of Council and the local community and we will work together to grow this business and hopefully look at adding larger aircraft further down the track,” Mr Wells said.

Flights depart Griffith at 8am and 3:30pm on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays and depart Essendon 10am and 5:30pm. Tickets can be booked online at www.paa.com.au or by calling 1800 017 557.
