THE WEDDING SINGER IS ALMOST HERE!

Excitement is building at Griffith Regional Theatre and in the community as opening night of this year’s Community Musical The Wedding Singer draws near.
Theatre Manager, Marg Andreazza said the Season opens on Wednesday 13 September 2023 and after many months rehearsing the show is looking and sounding amazing.
“We have the set ready to go, all locally sourced and built, the costumes are all sorted and again locally sourced and made,” said Mrs Andreazza.
“Our technicians have been working on some great sound and lighting experiences for our audiences. This is definitely going to be the show that you don’t want to miss seeing.”
The show has a very talented Production Crew behind it, headed up by Director Katherine Sharpe, Assistant Director Romina Tappi, Musical Director Matt Segrave and Choreographer Teagan Cirillo.  Cynthia Arel and Robyn Hutchinson have collected and styled all the costumes, Peter Fordham and helpers have built the set, John Matkovic, Mark Macedone and other tech staff at the Theatre have all the sound and lighting sorted, and Stage Managers Bonnie Owen and Mahendi Raval are ready to make the show run smoothly on the day.
“This team have all had extensive experience in their respective fields in music and theatre production and have brought such a high level of professionalism to the show. The audience will not believe they are watching an “amateur” production,” said Mrs Andreazza.
The cast have been having a great time together, but have also been working really hard to learn and perfect all the songs and dances, and the band has been learning all the music to make the live music experience fantastic for the audience.
The Box Office has been busy selling tickets, and the Theatre’s Marketing Officer has been producing the program and organising the signage you can now see hanging around Griffith.
Tickets have been selling well, but Mrs Andreazza said there are still tickets left available for all 10 performances.
“Make sure you get in early to secure your tickets, once the show starts and people see how great it is, they will sell out – and you don’t want to miss out,” she said.
The Wedding Singer is set in 1985, and rock star wannabe, Robbie Hart, is New Jersey's favourite wedding singer. He's the life of the party until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. As luck would have it, Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and, unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever.
The local production stars Jesse Aviu as Robbie and Lara Calabria as Julia, with other leading roles played by David Baxter, James Walsh, Gustavo Magalhaes Tercete, Valerie O’Meara, Helania Beltrame and Tennille Catanzariti. They are supported by a large cast of talented locals who are all excited to be part of this great production.
Tickets to The Wedding Singer are be available from the Regional Theatre box office or website. The 10-show Season will run from Wednesday 13 September – Saturday 23 September, including two matinee performances.
