COUNCIL CONTINUES SPECIAL RATE VARIATION COMMUNITY CONSULTATION

Griffith City Council continues to seek the community’s view on a proposed Special Rate Variation (SRV) to ensure long-term financial viability and to maintain service levels.
An application would be made to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) for approval to raise Ordinary Rates by 10.5% (inclusive of the assumed 3.0% IPART rate peg) each year for three consecutive years starting 2024/25. This is a total cumulative increase of 34.9%. The base rate increase would be retained permanently.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran is encouraging all ratepayers to get involved in the process.
“We have held two information sessions so far plus the General Manager and I have also addressed the Griffith Business Chamber and U3A,” Councillor Curran said
“We’ve got five more community sessions where we will be informing our ratepayers and taking feedback. If you can’t get along to one of the sessions listed below, I ask that you head to our webpage www.griffith.nsw.gov.au/srvhaveyoursay. You will find lots of information and an option to make a submission.
