Free Grant Writing Workshop to be Held in Griffith October 20 2014

Tuesday September 30, 2014

Are you an incorporated community organisation? Do you belong to a 355 committee of Council? Do you need extra funds for your community group? Or are you an accidental grant writer?

If you said yes to any or all of the above, the Introduction to Grant Writing workshop on Monday October 20, 2014, is for you! The 4-hour workshop is hosted by Griffith City Council and Regional Development Australia Riverina. The workshop will be led by Marg Couch, RDA Riverina Project Officer.

“This workshop is back by popular demand because it meets an important need in our community and covers the fundamentals of where to start and what to do when it comes time to sit down and write a grant application,” Ms. Couch said. “Applying for grants can be daunting if you have no experience and this workshop is designed to include information that is real and helpful and answer questions so that participants can write a grant application with confidence and understanding.”

The workshop will cover how to get your organisation ready for funding, where to find the funding (targeting fund holders in the community), and how to write the application by choosing the right words and avoiding common pitfalls.

Council’s Community Development team will provide an overview of the new Community Grant Program at the workshop. The program is currently open for applications, which will be received up to 4pm on Friday October 31, 2014. To view the newly adopted Community Grant Policy and to download an application form, please visit http://www.griffith.nsw.gov.au/cp_themes/default/page.asp?p=DOC-QPE-34-28-00. Printed copies of the application form are also available at Council’s admin building at 1 Benerembah Street or at Griffith City Library.
