HAVE YOUR SAY ON KOOYOO STREET STAGE 1 ROAD CLOSURE

Griffith residents are being urged to have their say on a proposal to permanently close Kooyoo Street Stage 1, between Banna Avenue and Banna Lane for the purpose of motor vehicle access.
Following requests from residents, Council resolved at the Meeting on 14 February 2023 to support “in principle” the permanent closure of the one-way road in the newly developed plaza area in Kooyoo Street.
With the completion date for the Kooyoo Street Stage 2 just around the corner, feedback is now being sought to determine the level of support for the closure of the one-way road in Stage 1.
Should no submissions be received, Council will apply to Transport for NSW to permanently close Kooyoo Street Stage 1 road, from Banna Avenue to Banna Lane for the purpose of motor vehicle access.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran is urging all residents to provide their feedback.
“We’ve held Council Cafes at the new Kiosk in Kooyoo Street and we have had mixed responses. Now we want to hear from more of the public,” said Councillor Curran.
“Council has invested in the upgrade of Kooyoo Street to enhance the CBD so it attracts patronage and activities within our main street. It has been suggested to enhance safety in this area the restriction of everyday vehicles could be positive for this new interactive space.
“Let us know what you think of the idea.”
