Draft Ted Scobie Oval Master Plan

At the Ordinary Meeting of Council held on Tuesday, 8 July 2025 it was resolved that the draft Ted Scobie Oval Master Plan be placed on public exhibition for a period of 28 days.

The Proposed Ted Scobie Oval Master Plan emerged from a collaborative effort between key local sports organisations and the Griffith City Council, aiming to deliver a significant piece of regional infrastructure for the community. The Griffith Touch Association, Griffith District Cricket Association, and Griffith & District Football Association joined forces with the Council to conceptualize and advocate for this ambitious project. Recognizing the importance of providing modern and high-quality facilities for local athletes and sports enthusiasts, these organisations worked together to develop a comprehensive plan that would cater to the diverse needs of the community.

The last significant development at Ted Scobie Oval occurred in 2011, with the objective of creating an aesthetically pleasing and functional space for active and passive recreation. However, as the community has grown and the demands on the facility have increased, it has become clear that a thorough upgrade is necessary to meet current and future needs.

The Proposed Ted Scobie Oval Master Plan is designed to address these evolving requirements, ensuring that the oval remains a central hub for sports and recreation in Griffith. The plan aligns with the strategic goals of all three levels of government, as well as state and national sporting bodies, reflecting a unified vision for the future of this vital community asset.

The draft Ted Scobie Oval Master Plan document is available to view below.
