Our organisation

Griffith City Council has a popularly elected Mayor and 8 dedicated Councillors.

Our General Manager, Brett Stonestreet, is supported by a Senior Management Team and over 400 employees who are committed to delivering the best outcomes for our community.

Our organisation consists of five Directorates:

What does Council do?

As a Council, we deliver a wide variety of services and facilities to the community. Some of our responsibilities include:

• waste management and recycling services
• maintenance of parks, gardens, playgrounds and sporting fields
• cemetery management
• maintenance and construction of local roads, footpaths, cycle ways and bridges
• water and wastewater management
• building and development control
• land use and planning
• food and public health
• animal management including rehoming and pet microchipping/registration
• economic development
• community & youth services
• sport, aquatic & leisure facilities including Griffith Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre (GRALC) and Griffith Regional Sports Centre (GRSC)
• arts & cultural facilities including Griffith City Library, Griffith Regional Theatre, Griffith Regional Art Gallery and Griffith Pioneer Park Museum
• tourism & events managed by the Griffith Visitors Centre
