Adopt a pet
Griffith City Council is dedicated to reuniting lost pets with their owners or rehoming animals which come into our care. View the animals currently at the pound looking for their owners or available for adoption below.
Pet gone missing?
If you've lost a dog or cat, please see below the animals currently at the pound looking for their owners. Alternatively, contact 1300 176 077 during business hours to find out if it has been impounded by Council.
If your dog was seized by our Rangers in a public place, you may be issued with a fine. If your animal is microchipped and registered, you will be required to pay an impounding fee before your animal can be released. View the fees and charges here. All animals MUST be microchipped and registered before being released to owners.
If you've found an animal, our Problem animal page provides information on what you can do.
How can I adopt a pet?
Griffith City Council is dedicated to rehoming animals which come into our care.
Along with private adoptions, the Griffith City Pound and Rehoming Centre (Rehoming Number (RHN) R251000142) works closely with a number of animal rescue groups to ensure those animals suitable for rehoming are given a second chance. Dogs that have been determined as a Dangerous Dog, Menacing Dog or Restricted Breed will not be re-homed.
All adoption fees include:
- Desexing
- 1st vaccination
- Lifetime registration
