Griffith Regional Art Gallery is pleased to announce the appointment of Melanie Toscan as Coordinator, following the resignation of long-serving Gallery Coordinator, Raymond Wholohan, who held the position for the past 10 years.

Ms Toscan is a familiar face to many, having served as the Gallery’s Public Programs Officer for the past three years. In this role, she has made a significant impact, enhancing community engagement and deepening connections with local audiences.

Gallery Manager, Marg Andreazza is thrilled to welcome Melanie to the role.

“We were delighted when Melanie applied and was successful in securing the Coordinator role,” Ms Andreazza said.

“She has brought a great deal of energy and creativity to the Gallery and we are confident she will continue to elevate its profile and programming in this new capacity. Melanie has already hit the ground running, curating our current exhibition Bazaar, and is actively planning an exciting exhibition calendar for 2025 and beyond.”

Ms Toscan shared her excitement about stepping into the new role.

“My time at the Gallery has given me an understanding of our audience and their expectations,” she said.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to work with our community from a fresh perspective and to further expanding the Gallery’s reach and offerings.”

The Gallery is currently showcasing Bazaar, this year’s Community Exhibition, featuring works by several local artists. The exhibition is inspired by the iconic South Yarra fashion boutique ‘Bazaar’, founded by designers John Claringbold and Ross Weymouth. Many of their couture gowns and garments, now part of the Gallery’s Couture Collection, are also on display.

Bazaar is open to the public until Saturday, 15 June 2025.
