Australia Day public holiday closures

Australia Day closure details are listed below:

The Griffith City Council Administration Office, Griffith Pioneer Park, Griffith Regional Art Gallery, Griffith Tourism Hub, Griffith Saleyards and Council Depot will be closed on Monday, 26 January 2026 for the Australia Day public holiday.

The following facilities will be open Monday, 26 January 2026:

• Griffith Regional Theatre – Citizenship Ceremony will commence at 8:30am, Australia Day Awards will commence at 10:30am – All Welcome.

• Griffith Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre – 11am to 5pm – Free pool admission for Australia Day Splash.

• Griffith Regional Sports Centre – 1pm to 6pm – Free admission to beat the heat.

• Griffith City Library - 12 noon to 4pm - to beat the heat with free ice blocks and family friendly movies. 

The emergency after hours numbers are 6964 1160 or 6969 4832. For all fire emergencies telephone 000. For emergencies relating to dog attacks and stock on roadways call the Ranger on 0408 210 196.

Waste collection and kerbside recycling will be collected as normal. The Tharbogang Waste Management Centre will be open as normal.
