Griffith City Council's Australia Day Awards

Each year residents within the Griffith City Council Local Government Area are invited to nominate fellow citizens for the Australia Day Awards. The aim of the awards is to recognise outstanding contributions to the local community each year and/or contribution to the local community over a number of years.

The 2024 winners (awarded in January 2025) are:

Australia Day Ceremony

Winners of the Australia Day Awards are announced at Australia Day Ceremony on 26 January each year.

Citezenship Cemerony

New Australian citizens will be welcomed during the morning ceremony from 9am at Griffith Regional Theatre.

Survival Day at Griffith Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre

Head to the Griffith Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre from 11am to 3pm for Survival Day. Hosted by Griffith City Council and the Griffith Local Aboriginal Land Council, this event acknowledges Wiradjuri culture and community connection.

Enjoy free entry into the pool, traditional dancing, singing, cultural stalls, live music by local artists and a free BBQ lunch.

Australia Day Colouring-In Competition

Get creative this Australia Day! Download and print your colouring sheet from our website or pick one up from Griffith City Library. Let your imagination run wild and submit your masterpiece for a chance to win a voucher from Collins Booksellers.

Entry Details:

Drop off your completed artwork at Griffith City Library by Wednesday, 22 January 2025.
Age groups: 1-4 years, 5-8 years, and 9-12 years.
