Griffith drinking water update

Published on 20 December 2024

Griffith City Council continues work to improve water quality, with noticeable difference to taste expected by the end of this weekend.

The change in the taste of drinking water is due to variations in the quality of raw water entering the treatment works following the recent heavy rain events.

It is important to note that the raw water supply is sourced from the Murrumbidgee Irrigation network, not Lake Wyangan.

Council staff at the water treatment plant will be working over the coming days to ensure the improvements are achieved.

Council assures residents that the water has always been safe to drink and is fully compliant with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
