Griffith City Council is proud to announce the completion of Stage 4 of the Yambil Street Upgrade, marking not only the conclusion of this final stage but the successful delivery of the entire Yambil Street revitalisation program.

Stage 4 has transformed the section between Daines Street and Kookora Street, delivering a safer, more accessible and visually appealing streetscape. Works included road, kerb & gutter and footpath reconstruction, stormwater and utility upgrades, new landscaping and the installation of contemporary street furniture creating a functional and welcoming public space for businesses, residents and visitors.

This final stage forms part of a broader, multi-stage project that has seen the full renewal of Yambil Street between Jondaryan Avenue and Kookora Street. The completion of Stage 4 represents the final chapter in this significant infrastructure investment, which has comprehensively upgraded one of Griffith’s key CBD corridors.

Mayor Doug Curran said the conclusion of the Yambil Street Upgrade Program marks an important moment for the city.

“This project has been delivered in stages over several years and the completion of Stage 4 closes out an ambitious vision to renew and re-energise Yambil Street. We thank the community and local businesses for their ongoing support and cooperation throughout the entire program,” he said.

Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully said the completion of these upgrades have helped to revitalise one of Griffith’s busiest streets.

“Improving the accessibility and liveability of our regional cities is crucial to support continued growth in places like Griffith and surrounding areas,” Mr Scully said.

“This project has delivered a number of crucial improvements including water mains, stormwater drainage, roads and streetscape enhancements so that Griffith is equipped for more homes and jobs throughout the CBD.”

All construction activities are now complete, with Yambil Street fully open to traffic and pedestrians.

The full Yambil Street Upgrade Program was primarily funded by Griffith City Council who contributed approximately 90% of the total cost of the project with support from the NSW Government covering the remaining 10% of funds required.
