Choirboys bring their rock ‘n’ roll stories to Griffith this April
Published on 12 March 2025
Get ready for a night of classic Australian rock as Choirboys take the stage at Griffith Regional Theatre on Friday 4 April at 8pm.
Formed in 1978 on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Choirboys became one of Australia’s most iconic pub rock bands, with their seminal anthem Run To Paradise defining an era. Now, they’re bringing their electrifying show Run To Paradise – part rock concert, part behind-the-scenes tell-all – to Griffith, sharing the untold stories of the wild, hedonistic music industry of the ’70s and ’80s.
Front-man Mark Gable and the band will take audiences on a journey through decades of rock history, spilling the beans on some of the most risqué, outrageous, and downright hilarious moments in Aussie rock.
“They didn’t call it Pub Rock back then, but we were there in the beginning and we’re still here now,” says Gable. “Some of the stories are just plain stupid because back then, we could do things nobody else could do—there were no rules,” he said.
Ever wondered which movie star Divinyls’ bass player met under a nightclub table? What Chuck Berry’s bizarre work tactics were? If Deep Purple was really responsible for Mark Gable walking with a limp? And what happened to Iggy Pop’s pants? You’ll hear it all—plus the legendary songs that defined the rock scene of the era.
Expect classic hits like Smoke on the Water (Deep Purple), Never Can Tell (Chuck Berry), Jump in My Car (TMG), Are You Old Enough (Dragon), Long Way to the Top (AC/DC), and, of course, Choirboys’ own rock anthems Boys Will Be Boys, Never Gonna Die, Struggletown, and the unforgettable Run To Paradise.
Don’t miss this legendary night of music and memories.
Choirboys will be performing at Griffith Regional Theatre on Friday 4 April at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased from the Box Office, by calling 6962 8444 or visiting www.griffithregionaltheatre.com.au
