Share Your Vision For The Future Of Griffith

This year Griffith City Council is asking all residents to actively participate in shaping the future of Griffith and its villages.Council is undertaking a review of the Community Strategic Plan (CSP), Council's key plan, providing direction and focus for all subsequent plans and strategies for Griffith over the next decade. Council will take the lead role in the implementation of the plan, however partnerships with other levels of government, residents, industry and community organisations all play a part in achieving the long-term goals.
Council will embark on a comprehensive engagement process across the local government area in the upcoming months, seeking input from the community to identify long-term vision, aspirations and main priorities.
Community members are encouraged to attend various engagement opportunities facilitated by Council.
Council kicked off the Your Vision, Our Future campaign on Monday 26 February 2024 with around 80 students attending Council’s Annual School Leaders event sharing their views.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran, said it was important to note that the CSP is not just a Council-specific plan but a collaborative community plan that defines our collective identity and future goals.
"While the review of the Community Strategic Plan is a legislative requirement, our primary goal is to understand the current views of the community," said Councillor Curran.
"We want to ensure the plan is representative of the community's aspirations and reflects any changes in our shared vision."
Councillor Curran said the aim of the CSP was to cover all aspects of community life, from social interaction and safety to cultural and recreational facilities, economic sustainability, environment, infrastructure and community leadership.
"It looks at the big picture of what makes Griffith a great place to live, and that's why it's crucial for everyone in the community to get involved and share their input," said Councillor Curran.
Over the next six months, Council staff will run pop-up stalls, attend community events, visit local shopping centres and engage with community groups. Residents are also encouraged to participate online through the Your Vision, Our Future Survey: griffith.nsw.gov.au/yoursay
Residents are urged to keep an eye out for upcoming opportunities in the Council Catch Up Newsletter, on the website and social media.
"I encourage all residents to take part and make their vision for the future of Griffith count," Councillor Curran said.
