WHEELS IN MOTION FOR GRIFFITH REGIONAL SPORTS PRECINCT

The wheels are in motion for Griffith’s Westend Oval Sports Precinct and 50 metre pool development as Council calls for tenders to help with design and construction work.

The $10 million NSW Government Regional Sports Infrastructure Fund grant announced in October 2018 will cover Stage 1 of the city’s sporting hub.

The complex will include seven indoor basketball courts with seating for over 1000 people, seven all weather netball courts, a new synthetic athletics track with new lighting, a new synthetic turf hockey pitch and a new grandstand.

It also comprises a new 50-metre pool to complement the existing facilities at the Griffith Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre (GRALC).

Griffith Mayor, Councillor John Dal Broi, said the release of the tenders were an exciting development in the extensive plan to build a first-class sporting precinct for the city.

“I am thrilled that Council is moving forward in delivering better sporting facilities for residents and visitors,” Cr Dal Broi said.

“The call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for this work is a significant step as we move ahead.

“As a Council we’ve been working hard to bring this project to fruition and this tender process is the next major phase.”

Council invites expressions of interest to tender for a contract for the provision of project management consultancy services for the Westend Oval Sport Precinct and GRALC 50m pool developments.

Council also invites expressions of interest to tender for a contract for the provision of detailed design / architectural consultancy services for the Westend Oval Sport Precinct development.

Expressions of interest are also being called to tender for a contract for the provision of detailed design and construction regarding the proposed 50m pool, plant and filtration room and amenities at GRALC.
