The Mayor’s search for a favourite Christmas light display for 2018 has ended at 41 Harward Road Griffith.

From over 60 stunning light displays registered for the Festival of Lights competition this year Greg and Meagan Hilton’s home at 41 Harward Road has won the title of Mayor’s Choice Award.

From the many twinkling lights throughout to a comical Santa climbing down the chimney, the Hilton’s display is a real Christmas delight.

There were plenty of other excellent light displays across Griffith making it a difficult decision for Mayor John Dal Broi.

“It wasn’t easy to pick the winner, but in the end the Hilton’s home with all of the lights and the different Santa’s really impressed me,” Cr Dal Broi said.

“It’s nice and bright and makes you smile, which is always a good thing. My granddaughters came with me and loved it.

“I want to congratulate everyone who took the time to brighten up our region with their displays. I was especially impressed to see the villages getting involved. Well done everyone and thank you for helping add some Christmas cheer.”

Mr Hilton was delighted to hear his light display had been selected by the Mayor.

“This is the second year we’ve registered for the Festival of Lights but we’ve been decorating our house for a while now,” he said.

“I really enjoy doing it. We’ve got two boys and they love it, it gets them excited for Christmas.”

The People’s Choice Award went to Alex Nichols at 76 Ortella Street Griffith, while Leaver Street Yenda has been crowned the Best Street for 2018.

Griffith City Council would like to thank Griffith City Cinemas, Star Bowling and Family Funland for supporting Festival of Lights 2018.

The Award winners will each be presented with Bunnings vouchers and plaques in the New Year.
