WELL LOVED DEE-VA RETURNS TO GRIFFITH REGIONAL THEATRE
Well-loved musical theatre artist Deanna Farnell returns to Griffith Regional Theatre for one night only in a concert packed with popular songs and plenty of local talent on Saturday 2 March, 7pm.
Dee has had a varied and successful career singing with bands and orchestras, as well as performing in musical theatre across the world with highlights including The Buddy Holly Musical in London, and RENT! in Adelaide. Dee is also recognised as an inspiring and highly regarded teacher, particularly as vocal coach for the prestigious Australian Girls’ Choir.
Griffith Regional Theatre Manager Raina Savage said this concert is a true celebration of local musical talent.
“Dee will be performing with many of the region’s best known and most experienced musicians, in a concert that spans the genres of jazz, pop, musical theatre and opera, and even a little gospel,” said Ms Savage.
“There will be plenty of surprises on the night – which will leave the audience with tears of joy and laughter.”
Dee may be best known to local audiences for her spectacular starring role as Elphaba, the green witch in Griffith Regional Theatre’s highly successful production of WICKED in 2017 but she has performed across the region with a veritable who’s who of local musical talent – many of whom will make guest appearances onstage.
Dee was half of popular jazz duo Jeff and Dee with jazz guitarist Jeffery Wright, performed with the Ben Ceccato Band in Original Worx, as well as with Ian Ippoliti, Rhys Callinan, and music theatre stalwarts Don Hillam, Jack and John Martin and her Wicked co-star soprano Simone Crossley.
Dee said she is absolutely delighted to be able to perform in my ‘heart home’ again, having relocated to the Central Coast last year.
“I have lived in a lot of places from Jakarta to London to Adelaide, but it was Griffith that stole my heart.”
Dee will also be presenting an Advanced Music Theatre performance workshop on Saturday 2 March for experienced performers aged 15+. The cost is $30, and numbers are strictly limited. Contact Griffith Regional Theatre to register and for more information
