Griffith City Library has put the call out for knitters to join them in their quest to warm hearts.

Each Saturday throughout the months of July and August, between 9am and 4pm, knitters are invited to gather at the Library to be part of Knit In.

But it’s not just knitters who can help the cause, with a table of already knitted pieces including toys, beanies, baby rugs and larger blankets for sale to raise funds for Griffith Base Hospital Auxiliary.

Griffith City Library Manager, Karen Tagliapietra, is urging interested locals to join the Knit In.

“We would love to see lots of people join us at the Library every Saturday over the next few months to help create blankets and other items such as beanies and scarves,” said Ms Tagliapietra.

“This is a really worthwhile cause to be part of and all funds raised will stay locally to help local people.

“Everyone is welcome to come along and join in no matter what their skill level. All they need to bring is their own needles, the wool will be provided.”

A range of knitted items will be for sale each Saturday. If you would like to purchase anything or place an order drop in and see the Auxiliary members between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Griffith Base Hospital Auxiliary Vice President and long-time avid knitter, Ada Snaidero, said all funds raised by the Auxiliary go to purchase equipment that is needed for the hospital.

“When the library used to do the Wrap with Love campaign a lot of people asked if the blankets were for sale,” said Mrs Snaidero

“This year the Library has allowed us to bring along our knitted items to sell.

“Knitting is a skill that I’d love to see continue. Everyone is welcome to come along to the Library and learn how to knit.”

For those taking part in the Saturday Knit Ins, tea, coffee and morning tea will be provided.
