GRIFFITH REGIONAL ART GALLERY CALLS FOR ARTISTS TO BE PART OF THE ART IN 2020

Griffith Regional Art Gallery (GRAG) is calling on local artists and crafts people to be part of their exciting 2020 Arts Program.

The Gallery is looking for artists with skills and experience who are interested in presenting community art programs including workshops, master classes, and children’s art activities. GRAG is also seeking Expressions of Interest from local artists to be part of the ever-popular Artspace Exhibition program at Griffith Regional Theatre.

Griffith Regional Art Gallery Coordinator, Ray Wholohan said, “Our Artspace program is about providing an accessible space for local artists to showcase their work in a high volume visitor environment. This great initiative allows us to introduce and promote individual or small groups of local artists to the community, who may not otherwise get this opportunity. All the exhibitions have a local connection, so Artspace is about creating a conversation between the artist and the community.”

Each exhibition would be for a period of six weeks and would be advertised as part of GRAG”s annual exhibition program. The Gallery was looking to present a diverse range of styles, media, and subjects.

Mr Wholohan said, “Previous exhibitions have included photography, acrylic and oil painting, printmaking, textiles, works in resin and enamel, and multi-media. Works can be 2D or 3D - whatever local artists are creating that can be presented in this space.”

The Gallery is also seeking Expressions of Interest from local artists and craftspeople to assist it to present a diverse and engaging range of public art activities in 2020.

Manager of GRAG Raina Savage said, “We are aiming to diversify the number and range of art programs we offer to the public, and this is a great opportunity for local artists to share their skills and passion with the community.  Activities could include workshops, master classes or a program of classes aimed at different levels of ability. We are interested in applications to run adult classes in any medium, and we are also looking for artists and craft people to a range run after school and school holiday activities.”

Interested artists should contact the Gallery to discuss their proposals and to receive an information and application pack. Expressions of Interest close Friday, 24 January 2020.
