Griffith City Council wishes to advise that redevelopment works in Yambil Street will proceed through until Friday, December 21, 2018.

Work on the southern side of the street commenced early October and was scheduled to cease at the end of November for a short period over the Christmas period, however after consultation with Yambil Street businesses, works will now continue.

The much-needed facelift for Yambil Street includes new footpaths, landscaping, seating, garbage bins and will make shops easier to access.

Griffith Mayor, Councillor John Dal Broi thanked Yambil Street business owners, shoppers and motorists for their cooperation.

“This work in Yambil Street is part of the wider CBD Strategy and is extremely important,” Councillor Dal Broi said.

“Work is progressing really well and as a result of this, as requested by businesses, we’ve decided to push on with the work.”

Construction on this section will cease on Friday, 21 December, 2018 and will recommence on Monday, 14 January, 2019. During this period median strip car parking will be available.

There will still be no access to the southern side traffic lanes, however at least four, safe pedestrian access points from the median strip car parking, will be available to shops on the southern side of Yambil Street.

Current detours will remain in place.
