CHRISTMAS IS IN THE AIR WITH THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS
With December 1 comes the traditional launch of Christmas, decorations go up, lights go on and the Christmas spirit comes to life!
Griffith City Council is excited to present the Festival of Lights Christmas light competition for 2018.
Residents are being encouraged to register their homes for the popular competition, ensuring their home can not only be included in the route, but can be considered for the Mayor’s Choice Award and the People’s Choice Award.
Council’s Director Economic & Organisational Development, Mrs Shireen Donaldson said residents can register online at www.griffith.nsw.gov.au/FOLregister to be part of the Festival of Lights.
“Last year we had more than 30 properties register, with many more decorating their homes for the Christmas season,” said Mrs Donaldson.
“Over the last two years Council has provided buses for community members to tour the Christmas lights of Griffith, and we are excited to once again provide this service every Friday night up until Christmas.”
The Festival of Lights Bus Tours kick off Friday 7 December and is available only by booking in advance at eventbrite.com.au and searching for Festival of Lights.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor John Dal Broi said this is a wonderful community initiative and a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.
“No matter how big or small your Christmas display is, I would encourage you to head to our website and register – residents enjoy boarding a bus or using our interactive map to see what houses are lit up,” said Councillor Dal Broi.
“In addition, every home that registers will receive 2 tickets to Griffith City Cinemas, 2 tickets to Star Bowling and 2 $5 vouchers to Family Fun Land with thanks to our sponsors, Griffith City Cinemas.”
