Griffith City Council is seeking submissions from the public to guide the growth and development of Griffith over the next 25 years. Submissions are welcomed from landowners to understand how they wish to see their lands developed in the future including issues or constraints with existing zoning. Submissions are also welcomed on more general issues to do with the growth of Griffith, including

  • Issues with the existing strategic planning strategies and plans
  • How, where and when Griffith should grow?
  • How prime agricultural lands should be best used?
  • Where employment lands should be developed
  • Environmental protection and conservation
  • Land use conflict.
Submissions are invited until 15 June 2020. 


Griffith City Council is publicly exhibiting a draft Residential Development Control Plan (DCP). The draft Residential Development DCP applies to all residential zoning and the RU5 – Village zoning in the Griffith Local Environmental Plan 2014.

The draft Residential Development DCP would replace existing DCP No 21 – Residential Development which is over 20 years old and has now been updated. 

Submissions are being invited until 15 June 2020.

Griffith City Council Budget

At the Extraordinary Meeting of Council held 5 May 2020, Council resolved to place the abovementioned documents on public exhibition as part of the Office of Local Government’s Integrated Planning and Reporting requirements.  Council is required to notify the public and provide the opportunity for submissions regarding these documents.

Due to the recent events relating to COVID-19 the Delivery Program 2017-2021 and Operational Plan 2020-2021, including Budget and Fees and Charges, will not be available for public inspection at Council facilities.

We encourage you to download a copy of the draft documents for review from Council’s website by clicking the button below or contact Council 02 6962 8100 to have an electronic copy emailed.

Council will host a live and interactive Information Session and Q&A on May 21 2020 at 5pm.  Participants can submit their questions by either commenting on Facebook posts advertising the Q&A or on Council’s website.

Anyone wishing to make comment on the above documents can also do so in writing addressed to the General Manager, Griffith City Council. Submissions can be made online by following the link below.

EOI - City2Lake

On 28 April 2020, Council resolved that Expressions of Interest be called from not-for-profit registered charitable organisations with a presence in the Griffith Local Government Area to organise and auspice the Griffith City to Lake Fun Run, for two years from 2021.

A report will be prepared for Council’s consideration following closure of the Expression of Interest. Council will provide in kind support through the development of a Traffic Management Plan for the event and provide traffic control staff on the day of the event. The successful organisation is required to provide acquittal report on an annual basis.

EOI - Removal of House

Council is seeking applications by Expression of Interest for the sale and removal of a 2 bedroom single storey fibro clad house. Asbestos register is available. To view the house please contact Daphne Bruce, Corporate Property Officer on 6962 8100.
Written submissions will be received by Council until 4pm on Monday 1 June 2020.


In pursuance of provisions of the Roads Act 1993, notice is hereby given that Griffith City Council intends, at the expiration of 28 days after publication of this notice, to enter into a licence agreement with P & R Piccolo Management Pty Ltd for 18 car parking spaces on the adjoining road reserve to 9 Altin Street, Griffith.

Written submissions will be received by Council until 4:00pm on Thursday 28 May 2020 and addressed to the General Manager, Griffith City Council, 1 Benerembah Street, Griffith or Email Council
