Investing in Griffith

Located in South-Western NSW, Griffith is the regional capital of Western Riverina and in turn, a major service centre for a range of inland regional towns.

Statistically, according to demographer Bernard Salt, Griffith is one of the most desirable places in Australia to live. It has low unemployment, good population growth and affordable housing. The Griffith Local Government Area (LGA) has been named one of Australia’s Top Ten Affordable Areas 2022 by PRD Chief Economist Dr Diaswait Mardiasmo.

Griffith is a thriving regional capital with a residential population of 27,182 (ABS ERP 2021) and a regional catchment of approximately 60,000 offering unique lifestyle, employment and investment opportunities for the Western Riverina region and beyond. We have a culturally diverse population, and this is reflected in our energetic retail and service sector. Griffith enjoys a cosmopolitan lifestyle underpinned by a vivacious arts culture, fine dining and boutique shopping.

There are over 3,205 businesses in Griffith and growing with over 13,883 employed residents (NIEIR). Manufacturing is the largest employer in Griffith city, making up 20.8% of total employment.

The region produces more than 75% of NSW wine grapes, 70% of NSW citrus production and is Australia’s largest citrus producing region along with 90% of Australia’s rice production, 95% of Australia’s prunes and home to award winning sustainable aquaculture. Griffith exports over $500M of wine per year, and is also a major chicken meat supplier and producer of rice, cereals, citrus, grapes, nuts, cotton and a myriad of other fruit and vegetables. Our access to water, fertile soils and mediterranean climate have provided Griffith with the clean and green reputation for establishing global markets in wine, citrus and almonds.

As a strong regional capital, Griffith is proactive in promoting economic productivity, creating jobs and achieving positive social outcomes across the region.
