Repairs Scheduled For Banna Avenue
Wednesday, 17 Mar 2021Griffith City Council is undertaking road repairs along Banna Avenue this weekend, resulting in changed road conditions between Lenehan Road and Crossing Road.
The works will affect traffic on both the East and West bound lanes, and will commence Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 March, with works continuing into the following week (weather permitting). Lenehan Road will be closed Saturday and Sunday.
The work involves heavy patching of failed pavement and line marking.
For safety of workers the work area will be restricted to a 40 km/hr zone during working hours and revert to normal speed outside of work hours. Traffic lights and/or traffic controllers may be used to control traffic flow through and past the site.
Councillor Simon Croce, Chair of the Traffic Committee said the works were being conducted under the Road Maintenance and Council Contracts program.
“The section between Lenehan Road and Crossing Street are in need of repairs, particularly in the 200m or so between Lenehan Road and the BP Service Station where the road surface has been damaged,” said Councillor Croce.
“Works will see heavy patching take place in order to provide a safer driving experience and we ask that road users obey the signage and traffic controllers during this period.
“There will be some disruptions, however there should be minimal impacts on parking for local businesses,” he added.
Council thanks businesses and affected public for their understanding and patience.
