Over $90m Worth Of Council Projects Across Griffith Lga

Thursday, 09 Mar 2023

Over $90m Worth Of Council Projects Across Griffith Lga More than $90M worth of major projects are underway, recently finalised or in the planning stages across the Griffith LGA.

Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran, said the wide range of projects being undertaken to upgrade, renew or build new infrastructure and facilities would further improve the city and villages.

“Council recognises the community’s need for quality facilities and has invested significantly in projects that increase the liveability of Griffith,” said Councillor Curran.

“It’s been a busy period and it doesn’t look like we will be slowing down anytime soon. The long list of projects doesn’t include the multiple other road works that are also underway around our LGA or the other business-as-usual works that are carried out by Council.

In addition to these Council projects, there is a lot of other activity and infrastructure development being undertaken elsewhere in the City, such as the Griffith Base Hospital Redevelopment.”

Some of the major Council projects include:
  • Hanwood Oval Amenities Building ($1.83M)
  • Yenda Oval Kiosk ($130K)
  • Mountain Bike Track ($500K)
  • Kooyoo Street upgrade Stage 1 & 2 ($4.09M)
  • Griffin Green Housing Project ($12.5M)
  • Tharbogang Waste Management Centre Quarry Floors development ($2.6M)
  • Existing Landfill Restoration ($4.8M)
  • Lake Wyangan Rehabilitation ($2.03M)
  • Memorial Park Upgrade ($200K)
  • Boorga/Dickie Road ($8.5M)
To allow residents to view the comprehensive list of Council Projects over the 2022/23 financial year,  a Map has been created, which is available to view here

“Whether it’s the Southern Industrial Link Road, Barber Road, Collina Infrastructure or the Hanwood Flood Pump, the Reservoir Refurbishments, it is great to be able to deliver so many worthwhile projects for our community,” Councillor Curran said.
