Huge April School Holidays In Griffith

Thursday, 30 Mar 2023

Huge April School Holidays In Griffith Local kids and visitors alike are in for a jam-packed few weeks these April school holidays. From April 7 - 24, with so much on offer from art workshops, roller skating, animals, and music, there is something for all ages to enjoy.

Easter will kick off the holidays and Thursday 6 April will feature a Glow Roller Disco at Griffith Regional Sports Stadium – get your tickets from eventbrite.com.au. Meanwhile the annual Griffith Pioneer Park Museum ‘Action Day’ is taking place on Good Friday and will be the place to be for young and young at heart.

If getting active is more your speed on Good Friday, why not take on Bacchus on the Lake? Run or walk, this is a great event for the entire family. Find out more at www.griffithbacchus.org.au

Griffith City Library is ensuring the kids are active yet zen, with their free yoga classes by local instructor, Janine Murphy. The Library will host printmaking workshops, air dry clay workshops and free school holiday movies. Be sure to book in so your child doesn’t miss out on these great sessions. You can book in at www.wrl.eventbrite.com.au

If you’ve got a creative child, Griffith Regional Art Gallery is the place to be with their Claude Monet inspired painting classes, facilitated by Tambourine Art Studio. While you’re there, check out Kim Gibbs’ exhibition ‘The Wandering Echidna’ showcasing a collection of animal sculptures created from locally sourced corrugated iron which was upcycled and saved from landfill.

There is plenty of live entertainment on offer at Griffith Regional Theatre with the international spectacular ‘Cirque Mother Africa’ for the older children, or The Wiggles for the little ones. Book your tickets via Theatre’s website at www.griffithregionaltheatre.com.au or drop into the Box Office during business hours.

Let the kids burn off some of that Easter energy at City Park – take on the tallest climbing frame in the southern hemisphere, zoom around on the flying fox, or explore the expansive grounds.

Autumn is a beautiful time to take the kids outdoors exploring Cocoparra National Park, or Hermit’s Cave on Scenic Hill. Or you could pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the picturesque views at Lake Wyangan Picnic Area, feed the deer and savour the down time with the family. Autumn is a great time to be outdoors!

However, if the weather turns sour, the kids can always spend the day indoors at Family Fun Land, Star Bowling or Griffith City Cinemas – all ages will be entertained, including the adults - grab a coffee and relax or jump in and enjoy the fun.

Why not head to Griffith Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre and make use of the fantastic indoor swimming facilities?

The school holidays wouldn’t be complete without a gelati stop at one of our many delectable eateries – a short stroll down Banna Avenue and you will find ample choice and so many different flavours - try a new one each day.

Griffith City Council Mayor, Doug Curran said families will be spoilt for choice these school holidays with so much on the calendar.

“We would like to welcome visiting families to Griffith, but also encourage locals to make the most of all that is on offer and enjoy a ‘staycation’ in our wonderful city,” said Councillor Curran.

View the calendar at www.visitgriffith.com.au and plan your Easter school holidays.
