Griffith City Library Celebrates Seniors
Thursday, 01 Apr 2021Griffith City Library will celebrate local seniors by offering two free programs.
On Tuesday, 20 April 2021 a Classic Literature and Movie Screening will be held, with a reading and a movie.
Reading from the classic novel, The Secret Garden will take place from10am -10:45am and a free morning tea will be provided, followed at 11.15am by the Classic Movie Screening of The Secret Garden.
Celebrations will continue on Thursday, 22 April at 10.30am when the Library launches the Seniors Brain Strain Program.
Seniors Brain Strain is a new weekly program where you can sharpen your mind by participating in activities such as Sudoku, crosswords and colouring in. Activities can be carried out using paper or some iPads will be available to utilise.
A Service NSW representative will also be available to assist with any questions and to help seniors obtain fuel cards. A special morning tea will be provided for all in attendance.

Griffith City Library Manager Karen Tagliapietra is urging older residents to attend these free activities.
“NSW Seniors Festival will run from 13 - 24 April 2021. This annual festival aims to encourage seniors to try new things,” said Ms Tagliapietra.
“We are always searching for ways to include our older residents and celebrate the contributions they make to our community.”
Other Council events include, Thursday 15 April at 10am Griffith Regional Art Gallery will present the Neridah Stockley exhibition spanning 25 years including drawings, collage, dry point etchings and ceramic work. Gold coin entry with morning tea provided.
Griffith Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre is also offering free gentle exercises for seniors. Contact the centre on 6962 8261 for details.
