Griffith City Council Launches Exciting New Youth Project Do you want to have a greater say in the events and programs being delivered for young people in Griffith?

Griffith City Council is launching the exciting new ConnectYOUth2680 project to give local youth a stronger voice.

Council received $50,000 in funding from the NSW Government’s Children and Young People Wellbeing Recovery Initiative to implement ConnectYOUth2680 and appoint a new Youth Project Officer, Lara Rossetto.

With the new initiative to connect the youth of Griffith now in the recruiting phase, she is calling on young people aged 12 to 24 years to join the innovative committee.

“This is an exciting opportunity to be a voice for young people in our community. Committee members will work towards improving the living standard and experience of Griffith youth,” Miss Rossetto said.

"I'll be a part of it, we'll be a team working towards making Griffith a better place to live for residents in our age group.

“All committee members will play pivotal roles in organising exciting events, workshops and projects while also receiving first-hand experience in youth work.”

Director Economic and Organisational Development, Shireen Donaldson said the initiative is an important and powerful way to give the next generation a voice now.

“ConnectYOUth2680 is a unique opportunity to gain an understanding of the role of local government and how you can help shape future decisions,” Mrs Donaldson said.

“This sort of experience will also be a standout feature on your resume.

“Through community consultation undertaken over the past few years we’ve heard loud and clear that youth need greater consideration.

“This is an opportunity to get involved and really make a difference. We need to know what young people like and what they think is missing in Griffith.”

To help determine what is needed and how young people aged 12 to 24 feel about Griffith, a survey has been launched: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LQDMCV7
