Council Welcomes New Manager To Griffith Regional Sports Centre

Thursday, 01 Dec 2022

Council Welcomes New Manager To Griffith Regional Sports Centre Griffith City Council has appointed a new Manager at Griffith Regional Sports Centre (GRSC), welcoming Griffith resident Ché Jenkins to the role.

Mr Jenkins has lived in Griffith since 2011 when he moved to the area to play for the Griffith Swans Aussie Rules Club. Previously living in country Victoria, Mr Jenkins has a passion for grass roots sports and providing country kids with opportunities to develop their abilities.

With a strong network of community, school and sporting contacts locally, regionally and nationally, Mr Jenkins hopes to work closely with organisations to bring GRSC to a level that provides all users with a positive experience.

“I am really excited to be joining the team at GRSC and I look forward to supporting local sporting organisations to showcase their players, parents, supporters and sponsors to a high level and host regional sporting events into the future,” said Mr Jenkins.

“I have previously worked as a NSW Development Manager with AFL NSW/ACT for 11 years, and I understand the role organised sport plays in connecting the community – there are so many benefits to sport not limited to physical outcomes, but mentally and socially.

“I am proud to be able to work at GRSC with its state of the art amenities – the Centre is home to many different sports, providing opportunities for local athletes to develop their skills right here in their backyard,” added Mr Jenkins.

Growing up in a country town, Mr Jenkins spent his time playing sport including Aussie Rules, Tennis, Cricket, Basketball and Netball and is excited to be able to use his passion for sport to assist local adults and children to participate at an introductory level, through to elite pathways.

“The GRSC has a range of facilities offering a vast array of sports for our community – I welcome you to come down and explore the Centre and try one of our many activities,” he added.

Mr Jenkins is proud to call Griffith home, and has deep roots within the community. His wife, Laura is a teacher at Marian Catholic College and they have an 18 month old daughter and twins on the way.

“I’m excited to work with all users of the GRSC to help kids, families and teams achieve great things. After a tumultuous period of lockdowns and inactivity I cannot wait to see the GRSC flourish and become the sporting venue of choice in the region,” he said.
