News In Brief - Project Updates

Yoogali Shared Pathway and Bridge:
Ongoing efforts to clear vegetation along the proposed Yoogali Shared Path and Bridge, particularly in the Penfolds Bridge vicinity, are underway. The tender process for the bridge will kick off soon, with physical construction activities slated to commence in the southern section over the next two months.
Griffith Mountain Bike Track:
Progress is evident in Stage 1 of Griffith's new Mountain Bike Track, covering approximately 4.5 kilometres of tracks, a skills area, shelter, fences, and a car park. Following user group consultations in September 2023, the project officially began in November 2023. The track is expected to be finalised by the end of February, although completion of fencing and the car park is anticipated by the end of March. An application for funding for Stage 2 has been submitted, with potential completion by the end of June 2024, featuring an extended track with additional features (jumps and beams), a drinking fountain, and a single accessible toilet.
Hanwood Oval Amenities Block:
The $1.9 million upgrade to the Hanwood Oval amenities block, initiated in September 2023 with tree removal and the demolition of the old block, is progressing. Greenwich, the contracted builder, is designing and constructing the new facility, encompassing a 380m2 floor area, four changing rooms, showers, referee rooms, canteen, covered awnings/spectator area, and an upgraded power supply for the entire vicinity. Completion of this project is anticipated by the end of June 2024.
