Wine Grapes Marketing Board

The Wine Grapes Marketing Board, which represents grape growers in the region, has been operating since 1933. It proudly supports and lobbies for the interests of grape growers.

Here are some interesting facts about this progressive local industry:

The first vine was planted in the region over 100 years ago and the region now grows over 60 different varieties - including many Italian varietals such as Montepulciano, Nero D'Avola, and Pinot Grigio.

The Riverina is the largest wine region in Australia.

The region exports more than 12.5 million cases of wine to more than 50 countries around the world every year - that's 34,000 dozen per day!

There are 22,000ha of grapes planted in rows - enough to stretch around Australia’s coastline 3 times.
