Advanced Performing Workshop for Singers & Actors

Overview:

This intensive workshop will take you through preparation for performance, song/script analysis, acting technique, vocal technique, performance technique, dealing with nerves, audition preparation and etiquette, mindset for confidence and success. Singers will work on songs, actors will work on monologues.

There will be a half hour lunch break.

Prerequisites

  • Participants are to be 15 years or older
  • Participants are to have had experience in performance, either singing or acting 
  • Please note: Participants who are preparing for their HSC performances (music or drama) are not required to have had previous experience

Prepare:

Participants are to have ready a minimum of one piece (song or monologue), but preferably two, to present at the workshop and then work on. Preferable genres for singers are Musical Theatre, Country or Jazz. Modern songs that tell a story are also fine.

Please Bring

  • Backing Tracks of your songs or if you will accompany yourself in performance, please bring your chosen instrument. There will be an upright piano available. (Even if you are not intending on performing the song with a backing track, please practice with, and bring one, There will not be an accompanist at the workshop so we will use the backing track to practice the techniques with.)
  • A print out of the sheet music, lyrics or Script
  • Notebook and pencil
  • Water bottle
  • Lunch (Or money to purchase food at Rossies.)
  • A willingness to try new things
