Thursday, July 2, 2020 8:00pm - 10:00pm

About

Rescheduled - Date TBA

CAPPELLO ROWE LAWYERS & GRIFFITH REGIONAL THEATRE PRESENT SYDNEY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

The Sydney Symphony Orchestra and conductor Umberto Clerici return to Griffith with two of the greatest works in the classical repertoire: Bruch’s Violin Concerto No.1 and Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony.

Bruch’s gorgeous Violin Concerto is an audience favourite, full of fire, passion, and some of the most beautiful melodies ever written. Sydney Symphony Concertmaster Andrew Haveron brings a radiant tone and blistering intensity to the virtuosic solo part to create a truly special performance. Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony was his final symphony, and he saved the best for last! From the jubilant opening notes to the exhilarating finale, it’s Mozart at his finest and one of the greatest symphonies ever written.

Directing the orchestra is conductor Umberto Clerici, the Orchestra’s Principal cellist. With his innate musicianship and “irresistible charm” he leads the orchestra to new heights in a concert you don’t want to miss.

Thursday, July 9, 2020 7:30pm - 9:00pm

About

WRITTEN BY URSULA YOVICH FROM AN ORIGINAL WORK BY JOSH BOND, DIRECTED BY JOSH BOND AND GAVIN ROBINS

With soaring aerial stunts this critically acclaimed work from Australia’s leading physical theatre company Legs On The Wall is a rollicking family tale of love, loss, resilience and hope.

When Ash loses his best friend Bear to suicide, he starts to idolise Vaudevillian stuntman The Great Peters, who could jump from bridges with a rope around his neck and survive. Ultimately the fabled stuntman’s death proves to Ash the trick is just that - an impossible dream to follow, waking him from a haze of grief to find his own path to survival.

Directors Josh Bond and Gavin Robins weave Writer Ursula Yovich’s words with spectacular aerial wizardry, and impressive set, video and sound design, conjuring this bold, tender and truly moving work.

“AS VISUALLY STUNNING AS IT IS DEEPLY MOVING“ - THE AUSTRALIAN

Members bring a friend for FREE

Warning: Strong language, Fog/Smoke Effects. This work contains adult themes and references to suicide that may be distressing to some audience members.

The original Aussie motoring event takes Bashers all around this beautiful country, exploring dirt roads, bush tracks and visiting parts of Australia most people never get to see.

On Day 2 of this bash, the cars will be arriving in Griffith for their stopover before they start their next leg moving on to Broken Hill.

Animal Farm

Animal Farm

Entertainment

Saturday, August 15, 2020 7:30pm - 9:00pm

About

Rescheduled - Date TBA

BY GEORGE ORWELL

Animal Farm, one of the most enduring political commentaries, returns in a multi-award winning, critically-acclaimed theatre production. George Orwell’s intensely powerful fairy tale allegorises and satirises communist governments while illustrating with stunning simplicity how greed and power corrupts with devastating consequences to all who yield.

Revolution has taken place at Manor Farm. The pigs have assumed control and all the animals, fueled by enthusiastic camaraderie and guided by a set of self-imposed rules, are promised a better life free from the self-serving greed of humans. However, it is not long until the rules that promised equality and freedom become the shackles that bind the animals once again.

Created by shake & stir and directed by Michael Futcher, Animal Farm promises to be one of the most shocking, relevant and wickedly funny theatre events of 2020.

OPERA AUSTRALIA - CARMEN

OPERA AUSTRALIA - CARMEN

Entertainment

Saturday, August 22, 2020 7:30pm - 10:00pm

About

OPERA AUSTRALIA’S 25TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR OF BIZET’S CARMEN

Caught between her desire for love and a longing for freedom, Carmen faces an impossible choice. She’s enigmatic and elusive: a femme fatale you can’t forget. Captivating Don José with her sensual Habanera, he abandons everything to pursue her. But Carmen won’t be owned and finds herself a new lover: the dashing bullfighter Escamillo. Don José’s jealousy is untameable and in a gripping finale, Carmen is destined to fight for her life.

This new production highlights the colour and vibrancy of postcard Spain, with vintage-inspired costumes it evokes an era of bikers and shady police in a post-war setting of teen angst and rebellion.

A cast of some of Australia’s finest opera singers assemble with a chamber orchestra and local children’s chorus to perform the world’s most popular opera. Hear the famous Habanera and the Toreador Song when you join us for Opera Australia’s 25th Anniversary tour of Bizet’s Carmen.

Sung in French with English surtitles.

The Nutcracker & Don Quixote

The Nutcracker & Don Quixote

Entertainment

Sunday, October 11, 2020 5:00pm - 7:00pm

About

Following their sell-out 2019 performances of Swan Lake, the Imperial Russian Ballet Company return to Australia to perform a double bill, The Nutcracker & Don Quixote. Two sensational ballets, one magnificent night of ballet.

ACT 1 - The Nutcracker
The ageless tale of bravery and dreams set to the music genius of Tchaikovsky's musical, this ballet features one of the most recognisable and enduring music scores ever written. Set at Christmas time, a young girl dreams of her Nutcracker prince and their adventures together.

ACT 2 - Don Quixote
A ballet based on the Spanish novel by Miguel De S… and is considered the most influential work of literature from the Spanish golden age. This festive and flamboyant ballet was first performed in Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre in 1869. The Imperial Russian Ballet Company was formed in 1994 by the Bolshoi Theatre soloist, Gediminas Taranda. The Imperial Russian Ballet Company comprises 40 dancers from the major ballet schools of Russia.

"In a night that overflows with all things ballet, you can't help be swept up by the sheer panache of the Imperial Russian Ballet Company dancers."  The West Australian

About

A NEW ENSEMBLE CIRCUS CREATION, EXPLORING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TRUST AND PLAY ON AN INNOVATIVE AERIAL APPARATUS.

Seven acrobats and thirty meters of rope....

Long spools of white rope run through pulley sheaves and wrap around bodies, explicitly connecting the artists’ movements above and off the ground. Like the booms and sheets of a sailing ship the performers are hoisted and swung by one another to create striking tableaux and breath-taking dynamics. The actions of one acrobat affect and implicate the movements of others in a precise negotiation of cause and effect.

By A Thread offers rich visuals of inventive aerial acrobatics from some of Australia’s best circus artists. With intense training in a breadth of contemporary circus disciplines, the performers have pooled their knowledge and skills, and then exploded the traditional boundaries of these disciplines to create a show where classic techniques are used in expansive ways.

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body.

Judith Lucy VS Men

Judith Lucy VS Men

Entertainment

Saturday, October 31, 2020 7:30pm - 9:00pm

About

Judith Lucy is single again…and 51.

She recently reflected on her entire history with men and concluded that maybe it was time to shut up shop. ‘Whatever it is that I’m selling, a lot of straight guys simply aren’t that interested in buying it and I’m including people like my father.’

In amongst exploring stereotypes and her own desires, Judith Lucy will recount her full history with the opposite sex and leave it up to the audience to determine whether she should ever date again.

Should Judith hang up her love-life for good?

In 2019 Judith did a massive sell-out tour around the Capital cities asking this question, but she wants a second opinion. Griffith, the decision is yours!
