Yanco ‘Moments in Time’
Monday 13 February - Friday 17 March
Dorothy Roddy, Artist and Curator, along with Leonie Napier, Project Leader of the Yanco Museum Project present Yanco ‘Moments in Time’. An exhibition documenting and highlighting the history of the ‘Riverina Welfare Farm for Boys Yanco' and the 'POW Camp 15 Yanco' years based at what is now Yanco Agricultural Institute.
The result is 12 fully researched oil paintings which are re-imagined from the original historical black and white and sepia photos, to bring to life in full colour the lives of the people who once lived there. Six will cover the Riverina Welfare Farm and six will cover POW Camp 15. These eras spanned the time between 1928 and 1947. Each image has its own interesting story to tell.
The product is a stunning and informative display of some little-known yet important parts of our local history. A must for locals and history buffs alike to visit.
