GRIFFITH CITY COUNCIL EMPLOYEE WINS PRESTIGIOUS AWARD
Griffith City Council’s Accountant/Grants Coordinator Alana Villata has been named the winner of the prestigious Dick Cahill Memorial Award.
Ms Villata received the accolade at the Local Government Finance Conference on Tuesday night in Terrigal.
In her role at Council, Ms Villata is involved in the financial report preparation, forecasting and budget duties. She also assists and coordinates Council grant applications throughout the year.
Griffith City Council General Manager Brett Stonestreet congratulated Ms Villata on her success.
“This is a great achievement and reflection on Griffith City Council and the quality of our staff coming through,” Mr Stonestreet said.
“It is clear that Alana has a bright future in Local Government and we are pleased to have her working here.”
Dick Cahill was a well-known local government finance professional who contributed so much to his profession, spanning over 35 years.
The Dick Cahill Memorial Scholarship encourages the ongoing development and training of up-and-coming finance professional staff within NSW local government, and the opportunity to participate in the local government sector as a member of Local Government Professionals Australia, NSW.
This is not the first win of the year for Ms Villata, who was also presented the Col Mills Memorial Award at the NSW Local Government Professionals Excellence Awards Dinner in June.
She was one of four recipients of this year’s Dick Cahill Memorial Scholarship and has now been announced as the overall winner of the Dick Cahill Memorial Award.
