Red Racing Hood reimagines the world’s best loved fairytale - with courageous Red and her resourceful Gran pitting their wits against the wily Mayor of Grinalong while tearing up the speedway to defeat the Big Bad Wolf and win the Grinalong Classic.

Audiences of all ages can get in the driving seat at Griffith Regional Theatre on Wednesday 12 September, 2018 at 6pm.

Grinalong was famous for its car race, The Grinalong Classic - until the wolf from Tangled Woods went on a rampage, destroying the racing cars and the drivers fled in terror.

Now, 50 years later, the Mayor has plans to re-launch the race and bring back Grinalong’s glory days.

But does he really want to help the town or is he more interested in lining his pockets?

When Red and Gran stand in his way - things start to get nasty.

With everything she knows and loves at stake, Red must convince her mechanically savvy Gran to let her compete and overcome her own fears in the process.

Manager of Griffith Regional Theatre, Raina Savage said, “This timeless story has all the hallmarks of the well-loved classic fairytale, and touches on themes of responsibility, small town survival, and the strength of women, young and old - all through the medium of slot car racing. Resilient Red and her trusty Gran rely on their wit, determination and cunning to overcome the crooked mayor, defeat the wicked wolf, and win the day.”

“Terrapin Theatre Company is famous across Australia and internationally for their innovative puppetry and interactive, imaginative productions. With slot cars, wicked wolves, fabulous performances and a high energy sound track – this hilarious fast paced romp will delight the whole family,” Ms Savage said.

The story is inventively brought to life using slot car racing, with cameras situated around the circuit magnifying the action live onscreen, putting the audience in the driving seat as they follow Red on her adventure.

Catch it before it races away!
