A Classic Celebration of local seniors will take place in Griffith this month, with Council hosting events to inspire and motivate.

Griffith City Library Manager Karen Tagliapietra is urging older residents to attend their full day of free activities on Thursday, 14 February, featuring literature and dance to help celebrate the NSW Seniors Festival.

NSW Seniors Festival will run from Wednesday, 13 to Sunday, 24 February 2019. This annual festival aims to encourage seniors to try new things, get out and engage with the community, express themselves and share their unique stories and experiences with the wider community.

“I hope that our seniors take this opportunity to get out and have fun with others in their community,” Ms Tagliapietra said.

“We want to acknowledge and celebrate the valuable contribution our older residents make.”

From classic literature readings to ballroom dancing, the Library is offering local seniors the opportunity to remember, reminisce and reconnect on Thursday, 14 February 2019.

The day will kick off at 10am with a reading from the classic novel Goodnight Mr Tom. Free morning tea will follow. Then at 11.15am seniors will enjoy a Classic Movie Screening. A free lunch will also be provided at 1.15pm, with the Griffith Sequence Dancer’s demonstrating classic ballroom dance at 2.30pm.
