Looking for a belly laugh? Sick of ‘famous’ comedians you have never heard of? The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow is coming to Griffith Regional Theatre with a crew of fantastically funny and famous comedians on Sunday 28 April at 6pm.

For 20 years the Melbourne International Comedy Festival has been touring far and wide, bringing giggles, guffaws and good times to Australia and further afield. Griffith Regional Theatre is presenting a great evening of entertainment – with a Sunday Sessions vibe – with bar, pizza and live music in the courtyard before the show.

Manager of Griffith Regional Theatre, Raina Savage, said Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow delivers what it says.

“It has a lineup of international and Australian comedians who are well known, award winning – AND very very funny!” said Ms Savage.

The 2019 lineup features Lloyd Langford a Welsh stand-up comedian who came to Australia to escape from Brexit. He has performed around the world and appeared on Q.I (BBC 1) with Stephen Fry and Up Late on the ABC where they censored a great joke about Rolf Harris. He is a regular on popular BBC Radio 4 show The Unbelievable Truth.

Tom Cashman is a rising star of Australian comedy. He had a huge 2018, writing and featuring on ABC's Tonightly with Tom Ballard and his debut live show Good touring Australia to sell out crowds and rave reviews.

Actor and comedian Ben Knight is well known from appearances in Upper Middle Bogan and Offspring, and his lead role on ABC series The Warriors as

Scottie Watson. He had sold out seasons at Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2017 and 2018 and landed roles in two Australian feature films, The Merger (2018) and Judy and Punch (2019).

Double Denim are an hilarious girl gang made up of singer-comedian Michelle Brasier, and dancer-comedian Laura Frew. Double Denim are favourites at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) Club and Adelaide Fringe Club, and headlined Gilded Balloon’s infamous Late’n’Live. Their debut show Double Denim, won Best Newcomer at Sydney Comedy Festival 2018, and their second show, Double Denim Adventure Show, took out MICF’s Directors’ Choice Award and is nominated for the 2019 Green Room Awards.

Born and raised in Manchester, England; now a proud Australian, Georgie Carroll is a comedian, nurse, wife and mother. This combination of home life and hospital proved a great training ground for the mixture of bluntness, harm and razor-sharp wit, that gives Georgie her a broad-spectrum appeal.

Georgie took out ‘People’s Choice’ and ‘Comedian of the Year’ at Adelaide Comedy Awards, and her debut show ‘Nurse Case Scenario’ was nominated for ‘Best Emerging Comedy’ at Adelaide Fringe and ‘Best Comedy’ at Perth Fringe World. Her follow up show ‘Gauze and Affect’ is leaving audiences for dead – fortunately Georgie’s Emergency Care Nursing is on hand to revive them!

“This will be a great way to take out the weekend,” said Ms Savage.

“This is a really diverse lineup that will appeal to a broad range of people - and with the bar open and pizza and great live music in the foyer from 5pm – patrons can fill their bellies and get in the mood for some real belly laughs with these fantastic comedians.”

Melbourne Comedy Festival is at Griffith Regional Theatre on Sunday 28th April at 6pm. Join us in the Foyer for live music and complimentary Pizza from 5pm.
