Griffith City Council will celebrate NSW Local Government Week 2019 by holding a series of events, with members of the public invited to get involved.

Held from 29 July - 4 August 2019, Local Government Week is an opportunity to showcase all of the ways that Council is part of the community.  This year’s theme is: Your Council.

For the first time, a Cultural Walk has been added to the list of Griffith events.

On Wednesday, 31 July 2019 members of the public are invited to meet at Griffith Visitors Centre and participate in a guided walk taking in the Banna Lane Street Art and other points of interest along the way. This event will conclude with a morning tea at Griffith City Library. Please call 6962 8128 to reserve your place.

Griffith Mayor, John Dal Broi, said the events held throughout the week were a good way for locals to find out more about Council.

While many people are aware that councils manage rates, roads and rubbish, the breadth and diversity of their work often goes unrecognised,” said Councillor Dal Broi.

“Local Government Week provides the perfect opportunity to promote the importance of councils to residents, ratepayers, businesses - the whole community.”

Celebrations officially kick off in Griffith on Tuesday, 30 July, 2019, with two invitation-only events. The first will see Councillors and members of the Senior Management Team address members of the Griffith Central Seniors Club at 10am.

Later that day Council‘s Annual Volunteer get-together will be held. A light lunch will be served in the Burley Griffin Room at the Griffith Regional Theatre followed by a viewing of the stunning Theatre curtain.
