HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE NEW CEMETERY MASTER PLAN
Griffith City Council is progressing with development of a Masterplan for the proposed new cemetery on Rifle Range Road, Lake Wyangan, with Council hosting an information session for residents on Tuesday 17 September, 7.30pm at the Burley Griffin Room.
Council has engaged Florence Jaquet Landscape Architect (FJLA) to develop a Masterplan for the new cemetery which will ensure the proposed site is functional and meets the needs of the community into the future.
Russ Allison, from Changing Places, will be assisting FJLA with the project. He has 30 years of direct experience within the industry, initially as a funeral director, then as CEO of Springvale Botanical Cemetery in Melbourne (now SMCT) and since 2011.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor John Dal Broi said Florence and Russ will be conducting an initial site visit on Tuesday 17 September to gain an understanding of the land they have to work with.
“I would like to extend an invitation to join Florence and Russ at 7:30pm on Tuesday 17 September, in the Burley Griffin Room at the Griffith Regional Theatre for an informal information session,” said Councillor Dal Broi.
“Council would love to hear from as many of our residents as possible so that we ensure we deliver a cemetery that meets the needs of our growing and diverse community.”
“The information session will give residents the opportunity to hear more about the master planning process and to provide direct input – it is important for Council to have community input to ensure we are planning for the needs of our residents now and into the future,” he added.
Tea and coffee will be available at the meeting. To ensure there is adequate room please RSVP to Monique Peisley on 6962 8135.
