After months of important infrastructure work on the south side of Yambil Street, the first phase of redevelopment is nearing completion.

When this work, which also includes the median parking area, is finished around the end of March, this section of road will be reopened to traffic.

Griffith Mayor, Councillor John Dal Broi said he was pleased to see the progress being made.

“This work in Yambil Street is vital for the continued development of our city,” Cr Dal Broi said.

“Work will commence on the north side of Yambil Street straight away.

“Unlimited street parking continues to be available along the full length of Yambil Street with the exception of the south side where work is underway.

“This was always going to be a big undertaking and again, I’d like to thank everyone for their patience. Council will continue to provide updates as work in Yambil Street progresses.”

Residents are advised that the partial road closure of Kooyoo Street between Yambil and Canal Streets will remain in place until mid-March when drainage work will be completed and the street reopened.

Vehicle access is available from Canal Street to the road closure point, with pedestrian access available at all times.

Locals can expect to see the street kerb and gutter construction take shape.

“This work is progressing as planned and people may have noticed that sections of footpath construction with paver boarder has already commenced,” Cr Dal Broi said.

There is possibility of disruption to telecommunications, power and gas supply, with Council endeavouring to inform those affected as soon as possible.

Work hours remain from 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
