Griffith Regional Art Gallery is calling for local artists and craft people to be part of Mother Love the community art exhibition for 2019.

The exhibition explores the concepts of maternity, nurture, love, connection, family, birth, heritage, wisdom, guidance or any other themes conjured up by the evocative words Mother and Love.

Griffith Regional Art Gallery Coordinator Ray Wholohan said, “We are calling on local artists of all levels of experience, working in any media, to contribute to this exhibition. The theme Mother Love is deliberately broad and can encompass a wide range of expressions of these two concepts which resonate for each and every one of us.”

The theme was prompted by a request from a group of local women who wanted to have an event or exhibition that celebrated both creativity and maternity.

“I thought this was an excellent suggestion as we are a community with very strong family bonds and both themes are very accessible and fundamentally important to all of us,” Mr Wholohan continued.

Raina Savage, Regional Arts and Museum Manager said, “Our community art exhibition is a vital part of our exhibition calendar. We hope the creative community of the Western Riverina comes together to embrace and celebrate motherhood and love which are elemental experiences for all of us.”

Entry is $5 per artwork. Entry forms and terms and conditions available from the Gallery and online. Entries for Mother Love close on Saturday, 26 October 2019.
