Griffith Regional Art Gallery is gearing up to end its 2018 program on a high note with the Late and Local market night and the opening of the final exhibition for the year, Objects of Desire.

Griffith Regional Art Gallery Coordinator, Ray Wholohan, said, “On the success of last year’s Late and Local evening markets, we’ll be running the event again on Thursday 6 December from 5pm - 8pm.”

“Patrons of the Gallery can expect to find pre-loved market stalls, face painting, live music, delicious food by Alaina’s Kitchen and complimentary a wine tasting by our sponsors McWilliam’s Family Wines,” Mr Wholohan said

“All of this and more will be happening in a relaxed and fun environment, celebrating the Riverina summer and the successes of 2018.”

Gallery Support Officer Kristy-lee Agresta said, “Inside the Gallery, patrons will find Objects of Desire - Griffith Regional Art Gallery’s 2018 community art and crafts exhibition. The theme of the exhibition is loosely based around the objects and items people may yearn for such as beautiful jewellery, handmade clothing, candles and other artisan and handmade wares, or works of art.”

“This aspect of the exhibition is geared towards the tradition of purchasing desirable gifts for family, friends and loved ones during the lead up to the festive season,” she said.

“Part of the Gallery will be transformed into a pop-up ‘Small Goods’ shop, where people can purchase a number of locally made artisan goods at the one place. We are hoping local people may choose Christmas gifts created by our regions many talented crafts people.”

This is a free event and will be held at Griffith Regional Art Gallery on Thursday, 6 December between 5 - 8pm. If you would like to hold a ‘pre-loved’ stall or find out more, please contact the Gallery.
