INTERNATIONAL PIANO VIRTUOSO TO PERFORM LIVE AT GRIFFITH REGIONAL THEATRE

Forget everything you think you know about classical piano concerts.

Internationally acclaimed Steinway artist and concert pianist Julian Gargiulo delivers an exhilarating and world-class performance that combines a live piano concert, comedy, and a Saturday Night Live style Q&A.

The international virtuoso’s totally unconventional approach will be on display at Griffith Regional Theatre on Friday 14 September, 2018 at 7.30pm.

Described as Saturday Night Live with a piano, with a marvellous non-stop flow of pure Woody Allen-style wit, the Italian-American performer will hold the audience spellbound as he takes them through a stunning program including Debussy’s ‘Clair de Lune’,  Rimsky-Korsakov’s ‘Flight of the Bumblebee’, with Beethoven and  Chopin thrown in for good measure.

Griffith Regional Theatre Manager, Raina Savage, said, “This is a massive treat for Griffith. Julian regularly performs at New York’s Carnegie Hall as well as Moscow Conservatory Hall, Verona Philharmonic Hall (Italy), and The Esplanade (Singapore).”

“Combining rigorous Russian conservatory training with an informal style of presenting classical music, Julian has been receiving standing ovations on both sides of the Atlantic and is not to be missed. You may even find him helping you to your seat before the show,” Ms Savage said.

Julian Gargiulo has been described as “the only classical musician who could truly be regarded as a rock star as well” (Courier Mail)

“Julian's playing is mesmerising. He performs classics and originals, playing a piece and then talking with the audience about it,” Ms Savage said.

“He’s hilarious, quick-witted and charismatic as he shares stories about his life, his playing and his family. His ability to create a relationship with the audience is simultaneously joyful and masterful. This is an unmissable musical event.”

Julian Gargiulo is at Griffith Regional Theatre on Friday 14 September at 7.30pm.
