Position Description

About this position

The purpose of the Plant Operator Relief is to operate and relieve on daily basis in a range of road construction and maintenance plant including Street Sweepers and Garbage collection in a safe, economical and efficient manner.

Qualifications: The successful applicant will be required to hold a current HR driver licence, a General Construction Induction Training Certificate and have the ability to lead a small team. Please include copies of all relevant licenses and qualifications with your application.

Hours of work: 38 hours per week   

Salary and conditions: The commencement annual salary $52,361.40 (Grade 7). Rostered day off once a fortnight.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Hold a current HR driver licence.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate various items of plant.
  • Hold a General Construction Induction Training Certificate (GIT or White card)
  • Demonstrated accurate record keeping skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a small team of up to 6
  • Demonstrated working level of computer literacy in Microsoft Word & Excel, PC-computer based databases and other relevant software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplined team environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Equal Employment Opportunity legislation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation and regulations specific to the area of work.

Desirable

  • Hold a previous certificate of competency Backhoe, Front End Loader issued by a regulator, such as WorkCover

     Or  Hold a statement of attainment or other nationally recognised qualification for the type of plant they will be operating

     Or  Have completed training at an industry training school, or hold an industry competency card for the relevant item of plant

     Or  Have been trained on-the-job by an experienced and competent person and assessed as competent by a suitably qualified assessor. The assessor is to provide the operator with documentary evidence of competence

  • Demonstrated knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques in relation to compacting and optimum moisture content.
  • Hold a Traffic Controller Ticket.
  • Hold an Implement Traffic Control Plans Ticket.
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic survey equipment including tape and stringline
  • Demonstrated skills in final finishing grading techniques
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe manual/mechanical handling procedures and skills.

About this position

Customer Service Officers are the frontline customer engagement point, working in a team environment to provide efficient, responsive and courteous customer service across a range of Council’s functions ensuring a positive customer service experience is provided to a diverse range of people.

Hours of work:  35 hours per week.

Salary and conditions: Annual Salary Range $54,379.00 to $59,815.60 (Grade 8). Rostered day off once a month.

About this position

The purpose of the Truck Driver is to operate Council’s road maintenance/construction plant in a safe, economical and proficient manner, carry out routine maintenance and regular servicing of plant items under the incumbents control, and to help promote the image of Council and the Engineering Services Department as both efficient and courteous.

Qualifications: The successful applicant will require a current HR truck licence and GIT or White Card. Please include copies of all relevant licenses and qualifications with your application.

Hours of work: 38 hours per week. 

Salary and conditions: Annual Salary Range $50,562.72 to $55,619.20 (Grade 6). Rostered day off once a fortnight.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Hold a current Class HR driver licence.
  • Hold a General Construction Induction Training Certificate (GIT or White Card).
  • Ability to understand basic construction plans, organise materials and carry out work accordingly.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision to an agreed standard.
  • Demonstrated accurate record keeping skills. (e.g. defect and daily running sheets)
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • General labouring skills, including the use and maintenance of small plant and equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Safe manual/mechanical handling procedures and skills.

Desirable

  • Ability to operate other relevant light plant, equipment and small power tools.
  • Hold a Certificate of Competence as specified by the Work Cover Authority for Front End Loader / Backhoe
  • Hold a confined spaces certificate.
  • Ability to use engineer’s level.
  • Basis surveying and levelling skills.

About this position

The purpose of this role is to coordinate the (WAP) Weed Action Plan along with promoting the control of Biosecurity Matter (Noxious Weeds) across the Local Control Area where it concerns Griffith LGA, including Private Properties, Roads, Crown Land, Waterways, Plant Nurseries plus other commercial enterprises in accordance with the Biosecurity Act 2015, and collate and map existing information on current weed infestations in the area and to facilitate community and industry involvement to manage weed problems.

Qualifications: The successful applicant will require demonstrated knowledge of the Biosecurity Act 2015 for notifiable weed control, hold a GIT or White Card and a current driver licence.

Hours of work: 38 hours per week

Salary and conditions: Annual Salary Range $58,441.24 to 64,287.60 (Grade 10). Rostered day off once a fortnight.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Biosecurity Act 2015 for notifiable weed control
  • Hold a current drivers licence.
  • Hold a WH&S General Induction for Construction work in NSW  (White Card)
  • Hold a Certificate III chemical users accreditation.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate computer software and web applications including Microsoft Excel and Word and Mapping Applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of mapping applications such as Google Earth, OpenStreetMap or QGIS will be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience to work within an allocated budget.
  • Demonstrate accurate record keeping skills.
  • Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to Supervise, casual staff and contractors and utilise plant and machinery.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated knowledge of local agricultural industries
  • Proven community liaison skills.
