About this position

The Senior Building Surveyor will assist the Building Certification Coordinator provide professional advice to Council, the public, developers, government authorities and other staff within the organisation in relation to development and building certification matters.

Qualifications: The successful applicant will need to hold a Diploma in Building Surveying or related field and must possess or be eligible for Level A2 Accreditation under Section 5(1A) of the Building Professionals Act. Essential

  • Hold a diploma in building surveying or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience as a practicing Building Surveyor in Local Government or the private sector
  • Possess or be eligible for Level A2 Accreditation under Section 5(1A) of the Building Professionals Act.
  • Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills.
  • Hold a current driver licence Class “C”.
  • Hold a General Construction Induction Training certificate (GIT or white card)
  • Demonstrated experience to negotiate and resolve conflict with the general public/applicants and other stakeholders to arrive at a mutually understood position which preserves the integrity of the Council.
  • Demonstrated computer skills and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret relevant legislation including the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Building Professionals Act 2005, Local Government Act 1993, Swimming Pools Act 1992 and the Building Code of Australia.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in carrying out inspections, assessing and issuing certificates in relation to Class 2-9 Buildings as classified under the Building Code of Australia.
  • Hold a degree in building surveying or related field.

About this position

Griffith City Council is looking for potential candidates for a Trainee Development Engineer. The role of the Development Engineer is to assess and inspect civil infrastructure related to developments to ensure compliance with standards and Council guidelines and policies. The purpose of the Trainee Development Engineer is to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities in Civil Engineering necessary to assist the functions of Council’s Development Engineering Section.

Potential projects the Project Manager will be anticipated to manage include:

  • Yambil Street Redevelopment
  • Memorial Park Rejuvenation
  • Hermit’s Cave Rejuvenation
  • Community Stage for Griffith Community Gardens
  • Other capital works projects of a similar nature for Griffith City Council
