Australia Day Working Party of Griffith City Council

The Australia Day Working Party annual coordinates the Australia Day celebrations for Griffith held on 26 January each year.

The Australia Day Awards are held each year as part of Griffith City Council's Australia Day Ceremony which include the Australia Day Awards, Australia Day Ambassador Address and a Citzenship ceremony.

The Australia Day Awards are held annually to honour individuals and groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the Griffith community. Each year nominations are callled for where local residents may nominate people and events that are worthy of recognition. The awards include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year (under 25 years), Junior Citizen (Under 16 years) of the Year and Event of the Year.

The Sporting Awards are included in the program. These include Sportsperson of the Year, Young Sportsperson of the Year, Clubperson of the Year, Team of the Year and Overall Sportsperson of the Year.

Nominations open in November each year closing mid December. Nomination forms can be found in the Area News and on the Griffith City Council Website.
