Youth Theatre Troupe returns with more sessions

Budding young performers in Griffith and beyond will once again have the opportunity to learn a range of drama and performance skills as Griffith Regional Theatre’s Youth Theatre Troupe returns in Term 1, 2025.
During these 8-week blocks of after-school drama classes, students will learn a range of drama and performance skills in a fun and supportive environment. Due to growing demand, the program has expanded to offer three dedicated class groups, ensuring students receive tailored training suited to their age and experience level:
- Primary School Years 1 – 3: Mondays 4pm – 5pm
- Primary School Years 4 – 6: Tuesdays 4pm – 5pm
- High School (Years 7 – 12): Mondays 5:15pm – 6:45pm
The Youth Theatre Troupe provides a welcoming space for young people to build confidence, develop performance skills, and make new friends in a supportive, creative environment. Led by the experienced Melanie Toscan, sessions will focus on voice, movement, improvisation, and stage presence, with opportunities for students to showcase their talents throughout the year.
Theatre Manager Marg Andreazza said that the additional session reflects the growing enthusiasm for youth theatre in the region.
“Several schools now produce their own musicals and concerts and students are showing a love for performing,” she said.
“We’re thrilled to see so many young people eager to get involved in the performing arts. By introducing three class groups, we can cater to different age levels more effectively and provide an even more enriching experience. Eventually some of these students may end up in Community Productions such as mamma Mia that is happening this year.”
The Youth Theatre Troupe is open to all skill levels, from beginners to aspiring performers. Places are limited.
Enrolments are now open for Term 1, with classes commencing 17 & 18 February 2025.
