Shape the future of Griffith – Join a Council Committee

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Griffith City Council is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join a variety of Committees that address important community issues and help shape the future of our local area.

By serving on a Council Committee, you will have the opportunity to provide valuable input, influence decisions, and contribute to creating a stronger, more vibrant community for everyone.

Applications are now open for community representation on the following Committees:

• Disability Inclusion & Access Committee

Advises Council on strategies, policies, and initiatives that promote accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunities for people with disabilities.

• Lake Wyangan and Catchment Management Committee

Implements recommendations from the Lake Wyangan and Catchment Management Strategy, focusing on water quality, ecosystem health, and community wellbeing.

• New Cemetery Masterplan Committee

Provides community feedback and oversees the development and implementation of the New Cemetery Masterplan.

• Griffith Pioneer Park Museum Committee

Provides guidance and support for preserving, showcasing, and promoting the living history and cultural heritage of the Griffith region at Pioneer Park Museum.

• Scenic Hill User Group

Consultation with stakeholders and users regarding the management, preservation, and enhancement of the Scenic Hill Crown Land Reserve, ensuring its sustainable use and balancing environmental, cultural, and recreational interests.

• Roads, Parks & Pathways Enhancement Committee (New)

Provides input and recommendations on the development, maintenance, and improvement of roads, parks, and pathways, promoting accessibility, safety, and aesthetic appeal for the community.

Saleyards Committee (New)

Provide advice and recommendations on the operations, management, and future development of the Griffith Livestock Marketing Centre, ensuring efficiency, stakeholder satisfaction and alignment with industry standards.

• Airport Committee (New)

To advise on the development, management and improvement of airport facilities, ensuring the sustainability, safety, and growth of the airport in alignment with community and aviation industry needs.

• Landfill/FOGO Committee (New)

To guide the management of landfill operations, waste disposal, and recycling initiatives, including the planning, implementation, and expansion of the Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) program to enhance sustainability and waste management practices.

Council Committees generally meet quarterly, with meeting dates and times determined by each Committee Chairperson. Membership is voluntary.
